Punjab Digital Transport Governance:
The project costs 125 million. It envisages faceless VRPR. Route permit applications and approvals will be entirely online with minimal human interaction to reduce corruption, ensure transparency, and enhance public confidence. It will upgrade VICA (Vehicle Inspection & Certification Agency) by modernizing inspection infrastructure with digital tools and integrated reporting for real-time compliance enforcement. It also envisions digitally enabled bus stands with electronic scheduling, passenger information systems, CCTV surveillance, and ticketing kiosks for public facilitation and security. Field staff would be provided smart devices (tablets/mobile units) for real-time route permit verification, digital challans, and reporting.
