Punjab Green Development Program (PGDP)

Government of the Punjab has signed an agreement with the World Bank to address environmental issues and promote green development in Punjab for the short, medium, and long-term plans. The planned program expenditures over five years amount to US$ 273 million, out of which US$ 200 million will be financed by the World Bank whereas the remaining US$ 73 million will be financed by Government of the Punjab. Projects related to Transport Department under Punjab Green Development Program

Two projects under PGDP are related to Transport Department that are mentioned below: 

  • Hiring the Services of Transaction Advisory Firm for the establishment of Private Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS) in Punjab
  • Hiring the Consultancy Services for Standardizing the Manufacturing and Operations of Three-Wheelers in Punjab

Establishment of Private Vehicle Inspection and Certification System in Punjab

Transport Department has also requested a restructuring of loan for the induction of environment-friendly CNG buses in Punjab on routes previously operated by Lahore Transport Company (LTC). These projects will help to reduce environmental pollution and enhance road safety. Further, it will stimulate the growth of the automotive industry in Punjab and creating jobs for locals.
